In northern Morocco, where the mountains meet the sea in the cities of Tetouan and Oued Laou, an inspiring story unfolds, blending the breathtaking beauty of nature with noble human spirit. We are a group of adventurous young campers who, one day, decided to explore the beautiful Ouachtam forest. However, the weather was very rainy, the sun was about to set, and suddenly we lost our way in the dense forest. As we walked hesitantly, we noticed faint lights from a modest house in the distance. We approached to find a young man named Chaker, with a warm smile and a face full of kindness. He invited us into his home, insisting that we stay with him for three days, following the deep-rooted traditions of hospitality and generosity.

During those three nights, we discovered a world unlike anything we had seen before. Despite the simplicity of his life and the scarcity of his resources, Chaker cared for dozens of stray and injured dogs. He shared their stories with love, recounting his adventures in rescuing and treating them, and how they had become part of his large family. Each dog had a story, and each story was filled with sacrifice and resilience.

Chaker was not just a host; he was a true hero in our eyes. Thanks to him, we decided to establish an association in his name, “Chaker’s Association,” to carry his message and help the stray and injured dogs abandoned by their owners and hunters after they fall into deadly traps scattered in the forest. Chaker had faced these cruel individuals and successfully filed a lawsuit against two of them, resulting in their imprisonment and financial fines.

After this impactful experience, we, as friends, decided to embrace this noble spirit and establish an association to help stray dogs in the forest, those dogs abandoned by their owners and hunters after being injured in traps set for catching rabbits. We all agreed that Chaker was the right person to lead this association, and we named it after him, “Chaker’s Association,” because his name carries the meaning of a person who praises God for everything in his life, regardless of his circumstances.

The association now works to provide food, treatment, and shelter for stray dogs. We strive to collect donations to improve the conditions of these animals and provide them with a decent life. With the help and support of kind-hearted people, we believe that we can realize Chaker’s vision and create the largest dog shelter in Morocco, where every dog can find care and love.
