The Story of the Three Dogs in the Cage
In northern Morocco, between Tetouan and Oued Laou, there is a small village called Ouachtam. There lives an extraordinary man named Chaker. Chaker is a local volunteer who cares for the stray and forgotten dogs in this rural area. He once found three small dogs trapped in a rusty iron cage, whom he named "Noor," "Fares," and "Leila.
"Noor," the white dog with brown spots, had a glimmer of hope in her eyes despite the difficult circumstances. "Fares," the light brown dog, was always the brave guardian who protected his friends, while "Leila," the dark brown dog, carried a lot of love and affection in her heart despite the sorrows. This wasn’t the first time Chaker found dogs in such dire conditions. He has around 50 dogs, most of whom he found abandoned by hunters in the forests. The dogs often suffer serious injuries due to attacks by wild boars or fall victim to traps scattered throughout the forest, often resulting in the amputation of a limb or their death from hunger and thirst. The situation worsened when Chaker discovered that some people were poisoning the dogs by placing poisoned food in the forest. But Chaker didn’t stand by idly; he filed a lawsuit against two of these individuals, who were sentenced to two years in prison and fined. In his rural home in Ouachtam, Chaker tries to provide a decent life for these dogs. He gathers them in makeshift shelters made of tin and wood, which offer them protection but lack warmth and comfort. With his limited financial resources, he collects chicken feet from vendors or restaurants—sometimes receiving them for free, and other times having to pay for them despite his difficult circumstances. Chaker sacrifices a lot to care for these dogs, selling some of his belongings to cover the cost of their food or medical care. He cooks the chicken feet with spices and mixes them with dry bread to feed the dogs, and he tries to provide medications and medical supplies, such as wheels for dogs with amputated limbs and treatments for fleas and fungal infections. His story is one of struggle and sacrifice, facing people who have no mercy in their hearts. Now, he needs your support to continue caring for these helpless creatures. Your donations will help Chaker continue his noble efforts and contribute to realizing his dream of establishing the largest dog shelter in Morocco, which will cater to all their needs for food and water and provide them with families to adopt them. Let’s all unite to support this hero and make the world a place that accommodates all creatures. With your help, we can ensure that Noor, Fares, Leila, and all the other dogs live a decent and safe life. Join this noble cause, and let us all find peace in knowing we’ve made a difference.
